"NOW YOU CAN PROFIT FROM THE WWW..." A simple way to increase your work potential combining Internet and digital printing technology without making a large investment. If you surf the net, you'll know that the majority of sites are information based. Great if information's what you need but as a quick printer or copy shop it don't necessarily enhance your business potential. You'll therefore be pleased to hear there's now a Web site that offers you a simple and effective way to increase the creative offerings to your customers and generate more profits for you. Brainchild of Ivor Jacobs, MD of print innovations company Ivor Solutions Ltd., this special trade service utilises his newly launched Card Corporation - an on-line business card and stationery ordering/production facility that combines user-friendly Web-based ordering with digital printing to provide a seamless, rapid and quality service offering profit without further investment. Use their investment instead -they can handle literally thousands of orders every day, printed on the latest Indigo and Thermographic machines. And the savings they make through volume production are passed on to you giving you a competitive edge or increasing your margins. If you don't currently offer a business card printing service then it's an ideal way of adding this string to your bow. And if you do, it could give you a wider range of options to offer, allow you to deliver the product quicker or take on extra jobs. Here's how it works. For a £10 registration fee (refunded with first order) you receive a point-of-sale A3 laminated showcard depicting examples of print quality and creative possibilities plus actual samples. Cards are shown in standard business card size 89x55mm and A6 postcard size but you can order sizes in between. Positioned prominentlv in vour premises, this can act as an aid memoir to your customers and promote additional business. Use it as a talking point - the A6 size offers a myriad of marketing options. And as the showcard sports no company logos, no-one need know it's not printed inhouse. Having registered with the Card Corporation, they set up your own Web account and give you an agreed password. Not a credit account in the normal sense, you pay for printing up-front. This can mean that you send a cheque, say £50, to hold and ensure you are in credit. Your Web account keeps track of orders so you know when it's necessary to top up your account. Or simply pay by credit card - details of which are not held by the Card Corporation but go straight to the bank ensuring you absolute security. OK you've registered, you're in credit, and you now have some cards to design and print for a customer. Prepare your artwork using one of the popular page makeup packages such as OuarkXPress or Photoshop (they're also PC compatible) and send the file to the Card Corporation via their Internet site-You simply follow the site instructions which effectively "attaches" your file to an order form and places it in the print queue. At the same time it processes all the administrative information -you might for example want the cards despatched direct to your client rather than to yourself if speed is of the essence. Providing it's received by a noon, your print work will be despatched by the end of the next working day, each order in its own attractive, seethrough Visibox packaging. There's a range of print and size options, background tints, folded, laminated - all competitively priced. To give you a taste the cost for goo standard business cards, printed 4-colour one side is fez; run-ons £7/100. For A6 postcards, it's £22.95 4-colour one side, £15 per additional goo; add 80% for printing both sides. Delivery by 1st class post is £7 for first 100 cards, Sop for each additional goo cards in the same order. Or you can go for overnight courier at £8 per order.
