INTRODUCTION
Thank you Mr. Chairman and thanks to the organisers for inviting me here today to attempt to give you an insight into why and how a relatively small firm like ours entered the world of e.commerce and where we are now. As this is a regional roadshow and I am introducing a case history of a local firm you may have been expecting someone speaking to you in the accent of these parts. My apologies for this. Actually I was born in the vicinity but moved to London many years ago and am now delighted to be working in this terrific part of the world. There are, of course, many similar business models but we very much believe in making an organisation unique in its style, offering and implementation. There is no reason for a different approach for e.commerce business. That is, identifying and adapting the benefits of e.commerce to help a business be different to its competition. That was and is our intention. So, before the specifics of Card Corporation and how we set out to change an Industry, just a few generalisations that do seem common to firms who, like ours, have a couple of years e.commerce in the bag.
