About Card Corporation

Card Corporation went live with interactive web ordering of printing on 1st May 1998. It was then a new business, just six months old but dedicated to enabling an innovative way of printing using web technology for the 'front end' and digital printing and workflow technologies to produce quality printed products at the 'back-end.'

In the days before .coms became the fashion, Card Corporation were pioneering new techniques. Their model was based on producing printed products, in volume. It believed that with customers happy with the results, good profitable business would ensue.

Early in 1999 Grasmere Digital Imaging Limited, a Leeds Reprographics and digital-printing company approached Card Corporation and the two businesses amalgamated with Card Corporation running as a division of GDI.

The owners of GDI also own an associated company - Grasmere Press. This Blackpool based forms printing company is the largest independent forms printer in the UK and has a turnover of 15m per annum. It is 37 years old and is run as a family business. The funding for Card Corporations developments have come from private investments and through Grasmere Press.

Grasmere Digital Imaging are specialist greetings card and colour coffee table book pre press people. Customers are among the largest publishers in the UK and are very demanding. The discipline, required accuracy and detail of this type of work has given an excellent basis for Card Corporation to learn first hand about colour management, proofing, consistency and balance in colour printing.

The Card Corporation Division of GDI has continued to develop its web software application and have become the world's first GASP (Graphic Application Service Provider). Several awards have been won for innovation and the features and technology of the Card Corporation system are believed to lead the field.

Staff at Leeds numbers almost 40 and a double day shift is worked.
